A new event for 2012 is the Asian Food Festival (Facebook event page), taking place on Nieuwmarkt on Sunday 29 January from 13:00. As well as being able to enjoy diverse flavours from all across Asia, you can also view special New Year celebrations, such as a contemporary dragon dance group from China, which will attempt to bridge Eastern and Western cultures within its performances. No fireworks will be permitted at the event, however, visitors can expect a sensory assault of smells, flavours and bright colours that represent the celebratory spirit of Chinese New Year.
